Many people are familiar with Solid Rock. You may have seen us from I-75, heard about our Jesus Statue, or some other way; however, how much do you really know?  Know this - Solid Rock Church is here for you!  We desire to help people grow closer to God, serve our community, strengthen families and build healthy relationships.

our history

​

Pastors Lawrence Sr. and Darlene Bishop founded Solid Rock Church in 1978, with 12 people meeting in a fire house on the west side of Middletown.  In 1980 they purchased a building on Briel Boulevard and adopted the name Middletown Evangelistic Center; with the vision of being a ‘soul-saving station’, that would touch the lives of people in the surrounding area.

Through much growth, MEC eventually became Solid Rock Church and relocated to Lebanon, Ohio in September of 1992.  Solid Rock experienced extreme growth over the next two decades and added many projects, including the construction of the Darlene Bishop Home for Life in 2003, establishing an orphanage in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2004 and adding the South Campus in 2007.

Pastor Lawrence went home to be with the Lord on September 30, 2011.  He left an amazing legacy, that Darlene has continued to carry on as Senior Pastor.  We honor the God-given vision that our founders had and continue to be blessed by their faithfulness to the call.

our beliefs

There is one true and living God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).  The Bible is the inspired Word of God and it declares His design and plan for man.  Jesus, God’s son was both human and divine.  Though originally good, man fell into sin – ushering evil and death into the world.  Everyone can be reconciled to God through confession, faith and repentance.  We believe in water baptism, communion and the baptism of the Holy Spirit.  Sanctification is a process.  The mission of the Church is to seek and save all who are lost.  We believe in divine healing of the sick and that Christ will return to the earth and rapture his church.

We are a church where everyone matters. Our common denominator is Jesus. We desire to do all we can, to show His love and power. We don’t just go to church, we are the church.
